Easter is coming up quickly! This can be such a fun time to celebrate with your family. If you want to get your kids in the spirit of the holiday, a fantastic way to do this is with Easter-themed activities. Get festive this year with these Easter activities and crafts for kids.

  • Handprint Easter Bunnies

Who doesn’t love some fun handprint art for Easter? All you need is colored construction paper or any type of paper you like, white paint, pink paint, a paintbrush, and either black paint or a black marker. Crafty Morning has a simple tutorial you can follow to turn your child’s handprint into an adorable bunny.

  • DIY Easter Egg Hunt

Easter egg hunts don’t have to be big orchestrated events. You can do a simple one of your own at home!

If you use real eggs, hard boil them and have your Easter egg hunt outside so you don’t lose an egg in the house. Or, you can pick up plastic hollow Easter eggs from most dollar stores and fill them with any treasure your little ones would like: candies, coins, and so on.

You can make your Easter egg hunt as easy or difficult as you want based on your kids’ age. You could even turn it into a treasure hunt, putting a clue or riddle inside each egg that your child has to solve to find the next egg.

  • Bunny Finger Puppets

Build a new cast of characters for a finger puppet show with your kids! It’s surprisingly simple.

Grab a white pair of gloves - think wool or cotton gloves - and cut off the fingers. Those fingers will become the finger puppets.

For each finger puppet, you can use white and pink pipe cleaners to make bunny ears, either gluing or sewing them to the back of the puppet. You can then draw a bunny face on the front of the puppet using black and pink markers.

From there, your child’s creativity can take over! They can create outfits on their bunny finger puppets using markers, fabric paints, pipe cleaners, and ribbons. If you want to take this to the next level, you and your children can even make up characters for each of their puppets and come up with a short puppet show.

  • Eggstravaganzoo at the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere

If you’re looking for a way to get the kids out of the house, the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere could be the perfect place to go. On Saturday, April 8th, the zoo is hosting its Eggstravaganzoo event. Check it out for Easter egg hunts, face painting, themed animal enrichment, and more.

Keep in mind that there are different times for Easter egg hunts for kids of different ages (4 and under or 5-12). Be sure to buy your tickets in advance because they may sell out. The zoo will also be open for you to explore, so you can make an entire day of it.

  • Peep Houses

Many families make gingerbread houses during Christmas, but did you know you can do something similar at Easter? Try making Peep houses by using graham crackers and other candies and accessories to create personalized little houses for your Peeps. Yesterfood has a full tutorial.

  • Easter Trivia

For kids who are a bit older, try playing a fun family Easter-themed trivia game. You could quiz your kids on all kinds of questions that are Easter-related, such as:

  • The origins and history of Easter

  • Easter traditions in different parts of the world

  • Bunny facts

  • Facts about Easter candies

  • Showing a picture of an egg and identifying which type of animal laid that egg
